What’s Not Covered By The Optimum Used Vehicles Powertrain Limited Warranty
Unless required in connection with the repair of a covered failure, the following are among those items not covered under the Optimum Used Vehicles Powertrain Limited Warranty and include:

Maintenance services and parts described in the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule for your vehicle;

Other normal maintenance services and parts including engine tune-up, suspension alignment, filters, lubricants, engine coolant, fluids, spark/glow plugs, air conditioning refrigerant, belts, hoses, brake linings and shoes. Adjustments, rust damage and failures due to contaminated fuel systems are not covered.
Additional Exclusions
Under the Optimum Used Vehicles Powertrain Limited Warranty, GM is not responsible:

For a failure due to misuse, alteration or lack of proper maintenance;

For a failure due to collision, fire, theft, freezing, vandalism, riot, explosion or objects striking the vehicle;
-
For a failure caused by lightning, earthquake, windstorm, hail, water or flood;
-
For economic loss, including loss of time or pay, inconvenience, lodging, food or other incidental or consequential loss or damage that may result from a failure, including vehicle rental expense;
-
For storage charges;
-
For any repairs, failures, or costs if the odometer has stopped, been changed, disconnected or mileage cannot be determined;
-
For failure caused by racing or other competition;
-
For a failure covered under other warranties provided by the manufacturer or otherwise covered by a repairer’s guarantee;
-
For a failure caused by pulling a trailer or another vehicle unless your vehicle is equipped for this as recommended by the manufacturer;
-
If your vehicle is used for business by more than one driver on a regular basis;
-
If you lease your vehicle to someone else;
-
If you are leasing/renting your vehicle from someone else for less than one year;
-
If your vehicle is used for daily rental, livery, hearse, limousine, taxi, snowplowing or for deliveries of parcels or goods;
-
If your vehicle is used as a police car or other emergency vehicle;
-
If the warranty on your vehicle has been voided;
-
If a misrepresentation was made on the Agreement registration;
-
If your vehicle is rated over 13,500 lb. (6,125 kg) GVWR;
-
If your vehicle is used as a tow truck or vehicle carrier;
-
For a failure due to, or of, any part and its associated hardware that is not originally supplied by the manufacturer as factory equipment, as well as any additional time required for the removal and installation of non-original equipment components in order to perform a covered repair. Examples may or may not include non-manufacturer supplied remote starters, radios, cellular telephones, theft deterrent systems, and air conditioning components.
Ineligible Vehicles
Vehicles that fall under the following categories will not be eligible for coverage under the Optimum Used Vehicles Powertrain Limited Warranty:

Used for business travel by more than one driver on a regular basis;

Used for daily rental, livery, limousine, hearse, delivery of parcels or goods, snowplowing, or as a taxi;
-
Used as a tow truck or vehicle carrier;
-
Used as a police car or other emergency vehicle;
-
Vehicles rated over 13,000 lb. (6,125 kg) GVWR;
-
Van or truck conversions and vehicles with special performance packages;
-
Vehicles with existing damage that violates structural integrity, or evidence of previous inadequately repaired structural damage;
-
Vehicles where the true odometer reading is unknown or has been changed. An exception to this would involve an odometer which has exhibited a defect and has been corrected according to the manufacturer’s procedure;
-
Vehicles with branded titles, such as salvaged, reconstructed, dismantled or rebuilt. Vehicles bought back or traded under the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP). Vehicles which have had the New Vehicle Limited Warranty voided;
-
Vehicles with engine modifications and suspension modifications, unless restored to original condition;
-
Vehicles with evidence of improper maintenance;
-
Vehicles equipped with non-standard size tires, non-matching tire pairs or tires that do not meet original size and speed rating;
-
Vehicles equipped with non-original equipment wheels;
-
Vehicles equipped with non-OEM equipment that compromises a safety-related feature of the vehicle.
Note: Protection is subject to a $100 deductible, plus GST and any applicable provincial taxes, for covered repairs per repair visit. The deductible is to be paid to the repair facility. Should any assembly have any subsequent failure caused by the same covered part within that assembly, no deductible will apply. Failure due to rust is not covered.
