The Cooling System

During normal operation, your engine produces enormous quantities of heat and this heat must be dissipated to prevent serious damage. Some of the heat is used to warm the interior of the vehicle in cold weather, but most of it must be removed by the cooling system. The cooling system should be filled with a 50-50 mixture of permanent anti-freeze and water. This mixture should be maintained all year round to provide an effective cooling solution for protection from freezing and boiling.

The water pump circulates the coolant through the radiator and the engine block to remove the heat created by combustion. In the radiator, the coolant flows through many small tubes attached to cooling fins. Heat is removed from the coolant by the flow of air from the fan and the forward motion of the vehicle, passing through the cooling fins.
COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE
Maintain pH balance in the cooling system, reduce corrosion in both the engine and cooling system, and prevent overheating, which is one of the major causes of mechanical breakdowns...

FEATURES:
Pressure test for internal and external leaks
Drain old coolant
Clean and flush cooling system
Refill system with approved coolant and test coolant strength
Pressure test radiator cap
Check condition and tension of drive belts and coolant hoses
Wash or clean exterior of radiator and air conditioning condenser

ADVANTAGES:

Reduces the incident of mechanical failure given Canadian climatic conditions
Protects against engine damage due to heat and corrosion
Extends engine and cooling system life

BENEFITS:
Reduces the inconvenience of breakdowns
Enhances overall driving (engine, heater and air conditioning performance)
